This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul, Minnesota and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor. The incumbent will be required to work periodically in the field with overnight travel during the construction season and occasionally attend in-person meetings and events as needed.
The purpose of this position is to ensure all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) activities associated with the delivery of MnDOT’s Trunk Highway Program are performed in accordance with Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) and MnDOT Standards. This position exists to help implement MnDOT’s ADA Transition Plan throughout the Department in both design and construction capacities.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment).
AND
Three (3) years of post-registration engineering experience at the Engineer Senior level (or equivalent) that demonstrates all the following:
Experience implementing Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines and standards.
Experience in the design of accessible pedestrian facilities including curb ramps, sidewalks, and accessible pedestrian signals.
Experience with road design standards, construction specifications and detail plan requirements, content, and organization.
Experience with roadway design principles, engineering, and construction practices.
Valid Class D Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the technical areas that are impacted by ADA such as: planning, design, construction, materials, and maintenance.
Experience with construction and contract administration of ADA facilities.
Physical Requirements
While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work outside exposed to weather elements, both cold and hot. The employee will occasionally drive a motor vehicle. Periodically, the employee will walk on uneven/sloping grounds. The employee must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment to protect the head, eyes, hearing, respiration, visibility and feel from injury as needed.
