Job Title: Welder and Fabricator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our production team in supporting the development and fabrication of autonomous, self-propelled rail vehicles. This role is crucial to the physical construction of our innovative railcar platforms and directly contributes to delivering high-quality, field-ready equipment. The Welder / Fabricator will perform high-quality welding and metal fabrication on structural components and retrofittable railcar kits, collaborating closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to bring innovative rail technology to life.
Responsibilities
Perform high-quality welding and fabrication on structural components.
Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to develop innovative rail technology.
Fabricate light-gauge through structural steel assemblies (approximately 16-gauge to 1-inch thickness).
Produce complete products from raw materials through finished assemblies.
Ensure compliance with rail industry safety standards and AWS welding certifications.
Focus on final dimensional accuracy and fit-up.
Essential Skills
Minimum 3+ years of professional fabrication experience with structural steel components and assemblies.
Minimum 3+ years of professional structural welding experience, including GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux-Core), and SMAW (Stick).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints, including standard weld symbols.
Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 – Structural Welding Code (Steel).
Ability to operate standard fabrication shop equipment, such as plasma cutters, press brakes/benders, grinders, saws, and drill presses.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or formal training in welding or fabrication preferred.
AWS Certified Welder (preferred).
Experience with GTAW (TIG) welding (preferred).
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

Work Environment
Work Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM within dynamic, cross-functional teams supporting a range of projects. Enjoy a highly collaborative shop environment that values strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, and mutual accountability. Adapt to changing project priorities, designs, and build requirements as technology evolves from prototype through production. Engage in a hands-on manufacturing setting that supports both prototype development and production builds, where cooperation and responsiveness directly impact build quality and timelines.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
