Maintenance Technician – Hiring for a Future Maintenance Lead
Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Pay: $30 – $35 per hour
Overview
This position is being hired with a future Maintenance Lead opportunity in mind. Candidates must have reliable personal transportation — this role requires on-site presence during inclement weather, including participation in snow removal operations with the grounds team.
Technical Skills Required
HVAC troubleshooting (highly capable required)
Boiler experience (preferred)
Chiller experience (preferred)
Plumbing experience (required)
Electrical experience (required)
Carpentry (minimal)
Essential Accountabilities
Receive and act on electronic, verbal, or written work order (WO) assignments on a routine or emergency basis.
Record start/finish times and log job-site comments in the department cell phone system per policy.
Perform plumbing repairs and installations: sinks, commodes, valves, water coolers; replace water lines and clear drainage blockages.
Measure, cut, thread, and prepare piping for replacement or new installations.
Repair or replace electrical outlets, lighting fixtures, tubes/bulbs, and switches as needed.
Perform minor drywall repairs; adjust door hardware and latches for proper function.
Maintain buildings in good operating condition through general maintenance duties.
Replace stained ceiling tiles following repair of any leaks.
Conduct Daily Routine Building (DRB) inspections and document findings electronically.
Other Accountabilities
Oversee outside vendors as necessary.
Obtain and manage materials needed to complete assigned tasks.
Secure supplies and equipment from maintenance shops; notify proper personnel of additional needs.
Observe and report unusual or emergency situations to the Manager or Director of Facilities Operations.
Recommend improvements to methods and procedures to immediate supervisor.
Collaborate with other trades within Facilities Maintenance to complete repairs or projects.
Rotate shifts as required by the Facilities Maintenance Department schedule.
Department Competencies
Familiarize yourself with all department policies, procedures, and property systems.
Become thoroughly familiar with the property, buildings, and building systems.
Work safely and remain knowledgeable of all Department Safety Policies; stay attentive to safety talks, special instructions, and posted safety signs throughout the work area.
