The Laboratory Technical Liaison (LTL) is responsible for providing technical support pre- and post-sale for moderate and high complex accounts to provide information and guidance customers need to navigate new technology decisions and assay implementations confidently. The LTL will facilitate pro-active sales activities within the territory accounts such as providing expanded menu sales, instrument and capacity expansion leads, moderate and high complex training, connectivity support with coordination from the Connectivity and Informatics Solutions Executive (CISE), and updates to software and maintenance procedure needs. Success will be demonstrated by the ability to achieve sales goals, support sales strategies, and keep customers up to date on assay and product changes. The LTL may conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations for our moderate and high complex products working collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, and global business units to identify and assess customer needs to provide high quality customer support that exceed expectations. The LTL continually strives for excellent levels of customer satisfaction within each assigned product range and provides feedback to the associates, managers, and the broader Cepheid organization for continuous improvement.

This position reports to Sr. Director, Laboratory Technical Liaison and is part of Americas Commercial Solutions organization and will be remote.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support Sales to achieve monthly, quarterly, annual unit and reagent goals for respective products supported in the United States by helping to drive new assay sales and implementation trainings and identifying hardware leads.

  • Use specialized expertise in Cepheid products to integrate Cepheid mod complex tests, RUO assays, and connectivity solutions into customer laboratories and provide support to the customer during the evaluation and implementation and recommend best practices

  • Train customers in new product technologies and their applications in a diagnostic environment, and provide customers with innovative ways to promote new assays to their medical providers

  • Strategize with sales and provide support when needed by conducting technical presentations at customer sites, trade shows and workshops to drive thought leader adoption of Cepheid technology.

  • Manage the end-to-end technical post sales customer lifecycle by supporting our customers and identifying business challenges such as competitive information to defend base business.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 + years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3 + years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 2+ years of work experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Medical Technologist (MT)/Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) experience OR Minimum of 3 years’ formal training experience; OR any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in commercial operations

  • FAS, MT, CLS, MLS, MLT training or teaching experience strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated success in following corporate process and administrative requirements (ex: Salesforce.com, Monthly Reports, business intelligence reports, regulatory requirements)

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to walk, sit, stand, use hand to handle or feel objects, utilize tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, bend, talk and hear.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • This position will require 75% travel by car and flying in and out of airports with possible long waiting times.

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, some work is in a lab environment setting. Lighting and temperature are adequate. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special program events

It would be a plus if you also possess Education and Experience:

  • Proficiency in computer skills, software, Microsoft Office Programs, especially PowerPoint, online tools, and systems: LMS, Content Management, and Salesforce.com, Zoom and Microsoft Teams strongly preferred.

  • Understanding of Adult Learning Theories; Needs Assessment; Performance Consulting.

  • Cultivates working relationships with internal and external team members, matrix partners, and business partners.

  • Experience with clinical lab accreditation requirements, laboratory information systems/connectivity, and value selling

The annual salary range for this role is $90,000-$110,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
