Corewell Health Patient Transport Dispatch Associate in St Joseph, Michigan
Shift and status
Part time, 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., variable days and every other weekend
Job Summary
The Resource Center Transport Dispatcher role supports hospital operations by coordinating patient transport and environmental services (EVS) while also providing occasional direct transport assistance as workload requires. This position functions as a centralized communication hub, managing high-volume incoming communications, dispatching tasks, coordinating specialty beds
and equipment, supporting scheduling and daily operations, and ensuring efficient patient flow while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining safety and confidentiality standards.
Essential Functions
Answer and manage high volume phone lines and other devices pertaining to the position in a timely professional manner
Dispatch EVS cleaning requests
Coordinate real-time breaks and lunch coverage to maintain staffing levels
Coordinate and order specialty beds
Assign, track and communicate Transport and EVS tasks
Requires assisting with transporting patients and equipment while ensuring proper identification for patients, safety and clear communication with the Nursing team.
Efficiently dispatch and continuously coordinate transport requests.
Provide professional customer service at all times
Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Computer skills
BLS (AHA, American Heart Association) or BLS (ARC, American Red Cross) certification within 90 days.
Preferred
Associate’s degree
2 years of relevant experience
