Logistics Support Specialist III
Job Description
Objective
The Logistics Support Specialist - III is responsible for, under the direction of the Logistics Support Specialist I, undertaking routine tasks in any area associated with the dismantling, assembling, removing, packaging and or storage of items.
The Logistic Support Specialist - III must work effectively as a member of the Logistics team and be a champion of the university’s values.
Essential Functions
Developing a strong rapport and relationship with their team and colleagues.
Under the direction of the Logistics Support Specialist I, or his designate, undertaking various logisticsrelated jobs including the moving of equipment, furniture and such items and of the warehousing orretrieval of various items from the warehouse/storage areas.
Loading and unloading furniture/equipment/tents and related materials onto and off vehicles, ensuringthat appropriate padding and ropes are used to prevent damage.
Locating and relocating desks, chairs, tables, bookcases, and other related office equipment and furniture.
Arranging and setting- up furniture, equipment and related items for classroom and special events, onand off campus.
Disassembling and reassembling furniture and equipment.
Carrying heavy items long distances and up/down stairways.
Box-pack items such as breakables, books, artwork, knick-knacks for storage or distribution.
Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuousimprovement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Providing excellent customer service at all times.
Assisting with undertaking non-schedule maintenance projects, including emergencies, malfunctioningand breakdowns, in any area of the physical plant.
Monitoring the adherence to the company’s core values.
Attending training, internal or external as is required.
In addition, the Logistics Support Specialist – III will complete any other job-related tasks orassignments that he or she may be assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Good communication skills.
Knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, imaginative and hardworking.
Must be cooperative and willing to work as part of a team.
Qualifications
Literate and numerate to at least the School Leaving Certificate level.
Proven physical fitness with the ability to lift and manipulate objects of varying weights, shapes andsizes.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
This job is physically demanding.
This job is performed in a warehouse and will require moderate amounts of heavy lifting, up to 150 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear.
The ability to maintain good concentration while dealing with interruptions.
Observing best practices to minimize physical activities.
Hours and Travel
A typical work week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday with flexible start, lunch break and end day.
Weekend and overtime work will be as is required.
No travel anticipated for this position.
