About the Role

The Bursar Coordinator is a key member of the Bursar’s Office, supporting the daily financial operations of student accounts from billing and payment processing through collections and issue resolution. This role works closely with students, internal departments, and Finance leadership to ensure accurate account activity, timely follow‑up on balances, and a high level of customer service.

This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional who enjoys problem‑solving, working with systems, and balancing transactional work with student‑facing support in a fast‑paced academic environment.

Job Description

  • Serve as a primary point of contact on-campus for student billing and payment inquiries

  • Maintain accurate student financial records in Banner and similar information systems in which student account data are housed.

  • Research, monitor and resolve account and payment discrepancies by reviewing billing, payment history, and system data.

  • Proactively follow up on student accounts with outstanding balances via phone, email, in-person and formal correspondence.

  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Affairs, Student Accounts and IT to resolve issues.

  • Review and adjust detail codes associated with student accounts billing accurately and timely.

  • Assist with billing adjustments, refunds, and promissory note processing for in‑school student loans (ISL’s).

  • Assist the Bursar with departmental projects, system updates, and process improvements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proven problem‑solving skills and sound judgment.

  • Comfort working in a deadline‑driven, high‑volume environment.

  • Ability to take initiative and follow tasks through to completion.

  • Experience with Banner or a comparable student information system preferred.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts receivable, student finance/ operations, or a related role preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Experience supporting financial reporting or reconciliations is a plus.

  • Higher education experience strongly preferred

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

    Work Environment

Professional office environment with frequent collaboration across departments. Routine use of standard office equipment including computers, phones, scanners, and printers. Primarily sedentary role with extended periods of computer and phone use. Fast‑paced environment with peak periods throughout the academic cycle.
