The Stationary Engineer will operate the steam power plant, perform plant maintenance, and provide utilities (steam, water and electricity) to meet the needs of the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) -St. Cloud. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining the steam boilers and apparatuses to ensure that steam and hot water are continuously provided to meet the facility’s needs. This position is required to monitor electrical power switching devices, water supply and usage, and energy management systems of MCF-St. Cloud.
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. - Current licensure in Minnesota as a First Class B Boiler Operator. (NOTE: Applicants with current licensure in Minnesota as a Second Class B Boiler Operator may be considered for a provisional appointment until obtaining licensure as a First Class Boiler Operator)
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
First Class B Boiler license
MPCA Class S-D Collection system certification
Experience monitoring building automation systems
Experience in waste water collection systems
Physical Requirements
The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial drivers license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance. Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
