Springville. Davies Hillside Farms. ASSISTANT BUTCHER. FT. 1st. shift. Tues.-Sat. 40hrs./wk. $18-$22/hr. (Minimum to start; maximum eventually).
Davies Hillside Farms is a farm to table meat shop based in Springville, NY. We are seeking a full time employee to join our rapidly growing business. This is an entry level position and training will be provided in all of the necessary skills. The position will include assisting the butcher team in packaging and labeling product and production of all value added products. This person will also learn to cut, tie and grind meat, as well as mix and stuff sausages. The hired person will also be responsible for the end of day cleanup of the cutting room, washing the cutting machines, floors, walls, refrigerated/frozen storage and general dishes. The person will also be required to learn and work the retail counter. With performance based raises you can be at $22/hr. in one year. This is a stepping stone position that can lead to higher paying and more skilled jobs within our company.
The ideal candidate must: -Identify, package, and label meat cuts -Work with customers to identify appropriate cut for the customer's desired meal and cook style -Operate and maintain machinery, including grinders and band saws -Monitor and record storage temperatures to maintain food safety and quality -Tie roasts and other cuts as needed -Follow recipes to mix sausages and to make frozen dinners -Stuff and separate sausage links -Interact with customers and operate a cash register -Be punctual -Be self motivated -Be able to work independently -Enjoy working in a fast paced environment -Will need to be able to handle instruction and constructive criticism -Be clean and tidy -Wear a hat or hairnet and put your hair up if long -Be adaptable to new ideas and situations
