Interstate is currently seeking a Summer Intern as an Administrative Assistant to join Interstate Van Lines for the summer. Candidates for this role should be self-motivated, have excellent problem-solving skills, and have strong communication abilities. This position is due to last from May to September of 2026.

SUMMARY

Provides temporary administrative and clerical service and support to business units. Implements administrative or operational systems, policies and procedures. Monitors assigned processes or projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Answers phones and monitors, responds to or forwards e-mails.

  • Assists in providing allocations team with upcoming activities and tasks.

  • Escalates non-routine matters and reports issues to appropriate staff.

  • Prepares routine correspondence and notifications

  • Makes photocopies, faxes documents, files paperwork and documents either physically or electronically.

  • Prepares forms for requested services and enters required data or customer requirements into company computer system

  • Keys data into computer and web-based programs or spreadsheets and compiles reports or issues task activity.

  • Keeps accurate and detailed records pertaining to his/her activities in the Company’s behalf.

    Projected tasks:

    DPS shipment data updates (weights/dates/reweighs, schedule delivery confirmation-direct and delivery from storage).

  • STS NAVL shipment data updates (haulers/weights/dates, F16)

  • Interline assignments to SIRVA agents- shipment management updates/tracking haulers/ETAS, weights.

  • Email triage from service network.

  • 1164 tracking

  • Weight reconstruction

  • Must be accurate and customer-oriented with attention to detail and timely execution of tasks.

    Required Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); some positions may require post-high school education or training and/or up to three to six months of direct or related experience.
