Position Summary
The Retail Talent Program Manager strengthens selling and service performance across retail stores by translating operational and customer experience strategies into scalable talent programs. This role designs and delivers learning solutions, onboarding pathways, and performance tools that boost Outfitter capability, product knowledge, and customer engagement. Partnering closely with Retail Sales & Service Operations, this position ensures all programs align with business priorities and the Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s brand experience.
Key Responsibilities
Develops capability frameworks, onboarding pathways, learning content, and performance support that build selling skills and operational consistency.
Converts customer experience and sales strategies into clear learning objectives and development paths.
Works closely with the Senior Manager of Retail Sales & Service to ensure training supports operational and strategic goals.
Ensures alignment with brand standards, regulatory requirements, and business priorities.
Leads end-to-end development, rollout, and sustainment of retail learning programs.
Builds communication tools, leader resources, and implementation plans.
Partners with field leaders to ensure training fits real-world store needs.
Provides relevant recommendations to continuously improve programs for gaps identified through key KPIs, Outfitter and leader feedback.
Conducts regular store visits to observe execution and inform updates.
Apply adult learning principles to create practical, engaging, and easy-to-use tools—microlearning, job aids, performance support, and blended learning solutions.
Leverages L&D technologies and innovative approaches to streamline execution.
Stays current with outdoor industry trends and customer expectations.
Reinforces a consistent, customer-centered Bass Pro Shops experience.
Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or related field
3–5 years in retail, training, talent development, operations, or program management
Experience designing retail/customer-facing learning programs
Experience partnering with cross-functional teams on program development and implementations.
Skills
Strong program/project management
Ability to translate business strategy into learning solutions
Experience creating engaging content and performance tools
Excellent communication and facilitation
Ability to partner across Operations, Merchandising, L&D, and field leadership
Adaptability to a fast-paced retail environment
Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
Willingness to travel regularly to stores
