Role: Full-time Operating Room Charge Nurse (Orthopedic service line)
Schedule: four 10-hour Day shifts each week, 0630-1700
Unit: 25 state-of-art Surgery Suites
Features: Da Vinci 5 and XI Robots, Smart ORs
Surgeries Performed: Performing Ortho, neuro, vascular, thoracic, general, plastics, ENT, eyes, GYN, GU, robotics, and open-heart surgeries
Hospital: Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon - 350-bed acute care regional medical center with a Level II trauma center
In this Charge Nurse role, you'll be a frontline leader who works under the direction of the Manager/Director, assisting with coordinating unit activities that assure safe and clinically effective patient care. The Charge Nurse supports and directs staff members in providing compassionate care and services to patients and families from diverse ethnic and social groups. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of routine duties.

Location: Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is a beautiful hospital situated along the Mckenzie River in Springfield, Oregon. Located an hour from the Pacific Ocean and 2 hours South of Portland, Springfield and its sister city Eugene are adventure-driven destinations. WHAT WE OFFER:
A wage range of $49.30 – $77.46 with additional $6/hr Charge Nurse differential. Hiring rate is based on RN work experience and terms of the Oregon Nurses Association collective bargaining agreement.

Position Details:
Coordinate patient care for the Operating Room.
Supervision and assessment of clinical practice. Direct and delegate to other team members.
Coach for performance to achieve individual and organizational goals; including orientation, competencies and evaluations.
Develop the departmental team and collaborative relationships to achieve expected outcomes.
Serve as a clinical and resource expert for the department.
Articulate shift/team operational issues to management as appropriate.
Appropriate stewardship of resources.
Adapts decision-making style to the situation and level of authority for achieving an optimal outcome including using collaborative decision making and effective communication skills.
Identify and apply opportunities for clinical practice improvement and support them with staff.
Ensure professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Accredited School of Nursing Required
BSN required within 36 months from the start date
Specialty nursing certification Preferred
Experience
Minimum of 2 years RN experience circulating in full service OR.
3 years Preferred: Acute care nursing experience
Credentials
Required: Oregon State Registered Nurse License
Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Certification

Working Conditions
Lifting
Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
