Description of Primary Duties
This position entails
assisting in data collection and analysis in field laboratory, including work required on some weekends;
collecting and sorting aquatic invertebrate samples, with some identification at coarse taxonomic level (possibility to learn more about specimen identification if interested);
assisting graduate student researchers with field data collection, including some overnight trips with shared lodging;
working outside for some long days on streams or rivers, including time spent in boats,
cleaning and organizing field and laboratory equipment; and
starting work after May 11, 2026.
Potential to continue working in Fall 2026 semester and beyond.
Required Qualifications
Interest in research experience and the process of science is a must
Reliability
Ability to focus, with strong attention to detail
Physical fitness for some hiking, paddling (canoe), and a few long work days outside in the elements
Sense of humor
Willingness to work as a key part of the team of researchers
Some degree of proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint
A work/study award is not required for this position
