General Function
The Artist-in-Residence is a non-tenure track faculty position appointed on the basis of outstanding professional attainments, creative accomplishments, and recognition in his or her specific field and renders specified service to the University including lectures, performances, demonstrations, master classes, and consultations.
Description of Primary Duties
Teaching applied voice and maintaining a strong studio of students majoring in music education, music performance, musical theatre and coordinating Opera Theatre. Additional duties based on departmental needs and the candidate’s strengths. Possible assignments could include Singing Diction, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Literature, or other classes as needed. The ability to work collegially and supportively with faculty colleagues, students, and the community is expected with attention to the Missouri State University’s Public Affairs Mission of cultural competence, community engagement, and ethical leadership.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Artist-in-Residence are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.
