Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Reliability Compliance to lead our enterprise-wide compliance program supporting the reliability of the bulk electric system.
This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to NERC reliability standards, strengthening regulatory readiness, and embedding compliance into daily operations across AECI and our member cooperatives. You will serve as a key advisor to leadership on regulatory risk and play a critical role in protecting AECI’s standing with governing bodies.
What You’ll Do
Lead Enterprise Compliance Strategy
Oversee and continuously improve AECI’s NERC compliance program
Establish governance, standard processes, and accountability across business units
Drive program maturity through metrics, assessments, and process enhancements
Manage Regulatory Risk
Identify and assess compliance risks using data, audits, and internal reviews
Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance
Develop controls and procedures that ensure consistent execution
Oversee Audits & Reporting
Lead regulatory audits, self-certifications, and audit readiness efforts
Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely filings
Manage mitigation plans and corrective actions
Integrate Compliance Across the Business
Partner with operations, planning, and member systems to embed compliance into workflows
Provide training, tools, and ongoing support to ensure consistent understanding
Represent AECI & Lead a Team
Engage with industry and regulatory groups (e.g., NERC, SERC)
Stay ahead of emerging requirements and industry trends
Lead, coach, and develop a team of compliance professionals
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years in the electric utility industry
3+ years of people leadership experience
Strong experience with NERC reliability standards and compliance programs
Background in compliance, audit, or risk management in a regulated environment
Working knowledge of generation, transmission, and grid operations
Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them in a practical business context
