Baystate Health RN Service Coordinator – Chestnut Surgical Services in Springfield, Massachusetts

Join our perioperative leadership team as an RN Service Coordinator , where your Operating Room expertise will directly support surgical service line excellence.

In this role, you will partner with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing perioperative and surgical services nursing leadership to coordinate daily operations, optimize case flow, and support high-quality patient care within a specialized surgical service.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

  • This unit has a highly experienced team that supports 12-inpatient/outpatient operating rooms, performing surgical procedures to restore and enhance the lives of patients.

  • This unit operates Monday through Friday, with coverage necessary to support the inpatient operating room with rotations of weekends and off-shifts at least quarterly.

  • We have a complex team that consist of nurses, surgical technicians, Operating room aids, Anesthesia techs, Residents, Surgeons and Anesthesia providers.

  • Patient Population: Adult and Pediatric, Inpatient and Outpatient.

  • Specialized Care Provided: Neurosurgical and Spine, General/GYN/Colorectal, Pain/Podiatry, CMF/Plastics, Urology, ENT/Dental, Orthopedics, Ophthalmic, IVF. ​

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate daily operations for a designated OR service line.

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to support efficient case flow.

  • Assist with surgical scheduling, block utilization, and workflow coordination.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for specialty procedures, instrumentation, and surgeon preferences.

  • Monitor equipment, instrumentation, and supply needs for scheduled cases.

  • Partner with materials management to support service line inventory and product utilization.

  • Support staff education and orientation related to specialty procedures and new technology.

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and patient care outcomes.

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Friday

  • Full Time, 40-Hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ASN required, BSN preferred.

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in MA.

  • CNOR Required Within 1 Year of Hire of hire.

  • Operating Room nursing experience required.

  • Leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of perioperative workflows and surgical procedures.

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.

  • Experience working closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) Required.

Compensation

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

$52.01 - $59.78 - $70.72
