Bear Mountain Health Care Maintenance Assistant in Springfield, Massachusetts

Sixteen Acres Healthcare Center a skilled nursing home in Springfield, MA, is currently accepting applications for a full-time, 40 hr/week Maintenance Assistant. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Should be familiar with nursing home plant maintenance regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of one (1) year physical plant and equipment maintenance in an institutional environment. Vocational training in skilled trade or other relevant training preferred.

Ability to read, write and speak English as well as add, subtracts, multiply and divide.

Able to carry out the functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Job Function, Responsibilities, and Expectations:

Demonstrate competence in application of mechanical and technical concepts that allows for facility plant repair, and equipment maintenance understanding and independent function.

Knowledge of State Department of Public health facility codes and standards, OSHA and safety codes.

Demonstrates ability to perform work in accordance with policy and procedures as well as regulations on a consistent basis.

Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to honor the rights, dignity and confidentiality of residents, staff and facility information and or property dealing with them honestly at all times.

Demonstrates the ability to stay current on all mandatory in-servicing including Infection Control, Fire and Disaster policies, OSHA and State regulations. Knows where the MSD Sheets are kept and how to use the information found within including the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

Participates in the CQI program as assigned and is able to apply to daily work.

Demonstrates the ability to document data in required logs to maintain the department's compliance with policy and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.

Demonstrates the ability to perform all tasks assigned in a timely manner with minimal supervision

Is able to respond to emergency maintenance needs in prompt manor.

Maintains knowledge of equipment and plant functions seeking education that enhances these skills.

Performs other duties as assigned.
