Cashier/Food Service Worker Job Overview: Operating a cash register (or equivalent), receiving payments of cash from students, faculty and administrators in payment for meals. Must understand and follow cash handling policies and procedures. May assist in reconciling and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operate equipment with electronic data processing. Must be able to follow all food and physical safety procedures and Health Department regulations at all times. General Responsibilities: Must exhibit good customer service skills in all interactions with students, parents, teachers, administration, fellow employees and the public. Must count their drawer money at the beginning of their assigned shift Reconcile cash and meal counts at the end of each day Operate cash register or POS computerized cash register system at the point of service. Operates cash registers and POS systems in agreement with company policy, National School Lunch and National School Breakfast requirements Possess adequate knowledge of POS system and its operation Other duties when not engaged in cashiering include set-up and / or assembling filling utensil stations and condiment stations, replenishing steam tables, counters, cleaning serving and cashiering areas Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards. Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment following all Sodexo, client and regulatory rules and procedures. Provides general stocking duties in service area. May be required to restock other beverage areas. Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service trainings. Duties may also include washing floors, pots, pans, serving tables and equipment. Food preparation and production may also be required Must use proper safety equipment and follow safety procedures to ensure a safe work performance Understands and follow Sodexo?s cash handling policies and procedures Maintain good personal cleanliness and adhere to proper work uniform requirements, i.e. clean, unpolished, short nails, no jewelry, use of hairnets Must be able to go up and down stairs carrying \"breakfast in the classroom\" bags May be assigned other duties as deemed necessary by the Chef Manager and/or Operations Manager. Significant walking or other means of mobility. Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds.
