About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead and actively manage all accounting and financial operations within a growing manufacturing organization. This is not a purely strategic oversight role — we are looking for a leader who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, diving into the details, and working closely with operations to drive financial performance. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing accounting experience, deep cost accounting expertise, and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.
Financial Leadership & Oversight
Lead all accounting operations including GL, fixed assets, and inventory, and oversight of AP/AR & payroll
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage month-end and year-end close processes
Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
Coordinate audits and tax filings
Cost & Manufacturing Accounting
Handle standard costing and cost roll processes
Analyze labor, overhead, material, and production variances
Maintain and improve inventory valuation and controls
Partner with operations to improve margins and reduce waste
Support bill of materials (BOM) accuracy and inventory cycle counts
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist with annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes
Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis
Deliver actionable KPI reporting for leadership
Monitor cash flow and working capital performance
Operational Partnership
Collaborate with plant leadership on productivity initiatives
Drive process improvements across accounting and operations
Strengthen internal controls and ERP utilization
Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making
Team Leadership
Supervise and mentor clerical accounting staff
Foster accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Develop scalable processes to support company growth
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with a company under $50M in revenue
3+ years in a manufacturing environment (required)
Strong cost accounting and inventory management experience
Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
Proven ability to operate both strategically and tactically
Comfortable in a small company, hands on role
