Position Overview
The Compensation Intern will work closely with the Compensation team and collaborate with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and other cross-functional departments. The intern will attend and actively participate in team meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of compensation strategy, healthcare pay practices, and organizational operations.
This role is designed to provide practical, project-based experience in compensation analysis within a complex healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accept and complete designated compensation-focused projects, including research, data analysis, solution development, and presentations
Assist with market pricing activities, salary benchmarking, and compensation surveys
Support job description review and job evaluation processes
Analyze compensation and workforce data to identify trends and insights
Compile employee reports to analyze for pay equity practices
Participate and support the Compensation team in the administration of premium pay programs
Participate in department meetings and contribute to discussions
Collaborate with team members and complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner
Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive compensation and employee information
Work Experience
Academic coursework or prior experience in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
Previous exposure to compensation, HR analytics, or business data analysis is a plus
Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret compensation and market data
Advanced attention to detail, particularly in data entry, validation, and documentation
Critical thinking skills applied to compensation analysis and business problem-solving
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, vlookups and data organization, required
Ability to learn HRIS and compensation-related systems
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential employee compensation data
Engagement, curiosity, and initiative in learning opportunities
