The Senior Counsel advises on complex, cross-functional matters. The Senior Counsel has the ability to perform sophisticated legal analysis and clearly communicate with business partners and other stakeholders. This includes providing guidance on how to move forward with new programs and initiatives.

This position will focus on supporting Humana's senior-focused primary care operations (CenterWell Senior Primary Care). CenterWell Senior Primary Care focuses on bringing quality, affordable, personalized care in more than a dozen states.

The Senior Counsel advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job responsibilities and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action. The Senior Counsel advises on complex, cross-functional matters and can perform sophisticated legal analysis and clearly communicate with business partners and other stakeholders, including providing guidance on how to move forward. The Senior Counsel is responsible for managing end-to-end work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

You will focus on supporting Humana's senior-focused primary care operations.

  • Advise on, draft and negotiate value-based arrangements including payer, specialist, vendor and hybrid arrangements.

  • Collaborate with clinical areas on affiliation agreements and similar arrangements within a clinic environment.

  • Assist with new contract arrangements as a result of acquisitions, pilot programs, and other miscellaneous clinical programs.

  • Collaborate and consult with leaders throughout the company to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and protection against external risk.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate degree from a ABA accredited school law school

  • 5+ years of legal experience in the health care industry, including direct experience counseling health care providers.

  • Active membership in a state bar association

  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and in team settings

  • Ability to work in a complex organization with clients at all levels of the company, including senior leadership.

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$168,000 - $231,000 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
