In this role you will:
Represent the City and its employees in litigation, primarily defending lawsuits, performing legal research and represent the City in other contract matters.\ Handle other tasks as assigned by Corporation Counsel including drafting contracts, ordinances prosecuting code violations and handling other legal matters.\ Meet with City officials, employees, witnesses, doctors, expert witnesses, etc. in preparation of discovery/trials.\ Ensure file and records are maintained in an organized and efficient manner so that they are readily\ Perform periodic training to City Council Members in pertinent areas of law, i.e. Open Meetings Act, FOIA, etc.\ Perform research and advise City departments on a variety of legal issues including workplace discrimination, due process issues and federal/state legal compliance through use of various libraries as well as use of on-line media.
