Development Chemist I Location: Springdale, PA Duration: 12 months

Description: Key Responsibilities: Respond to color match requests and color design work for wood flooring and other building material customers. Maintain new or alternative pigments and/or raw materials to enable supply security and mitigate production disruptions. Design and execute the experiments for the raw material testing. Collaborate with sales team for product attributes and build strong working relationships with new customers to increase potential business opportunities. Interact with production to investigate product quality problems, resolve root cause, assemble, and analyze data and implement corrective action to reduce or eliminate cause. Communicate and ensure recordkeeping through written/verbal summaries, reports, and presentations to both internal and external customers. With feedback from technical service, address customer complaints/concerns through root cause analysis and/or formulation changes. Through experimental design, manipulates formulation variables to enhance UV cure coatings primarily for the flooring market.

Level I: 0-3 years. Knowledgeable of chemistry/coatings technology and scientific test methods. Performs independently by planning and executing specific phases of a project, subject to direction of a senior exempt employee. Develops understanding of fundamental principles and root cause analysis. Uses these principles to design experiments and BPI tools that effectively lead to problem solving. Provides direct support to field technical problems

As a Development Chemist: Building Materials Interior, you will be responsible for customer facing development opportunities in wood stains, opaque and clear UV coatings for the Building Material market. As a chemist, you will work closely with sales managers in support of key customers while thoughtfully applying formulation expertise in a high-energy environment that encourages your growth! The development chemist plays a key role in color and other formula design, product preparation and application, and the testing of coatings against a wide range of specifications and requirements.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry, Polymer Science, Coatings Science, or Chemical Engineering with 0-5 years of proven laboratory experience.
