Job Description:
Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, and creative Principal Scientist to join us in our mission to implement new lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based therapies for patients with autoimmune disorders in the Immunology Discovery organization. This role will be based in our Spring House, PA location. The ideal candidate has demonstrated expertise in LNP-based modifications of immune systems, particularly early-stage work (in vitro and in vivo systems). In this role, they will lead from the bench and develop and implement strategies for the in vitro and in vivo/ex vivo assessment of immune modulating LNP modalities.
You will be responsible for :
Lead hands-on experimental work at the bench to develop and refine early-stage assays focused on immune modulation using lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology. Drive scientific rigor in study design, execution, and troubleshooting to ensure robust and reproducible results.
Develop and optimize experimental protocols, implement precise data collection strategies, and conduct thorough statistical analyses.
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to accelerate assay development and facilitate preclinical research objectives. Communicate effectively with colleagues to share findings, address challenges, and advance project goals.
Mentor and train junior scientists in experimental techniques, fostering their technical skills and professional development within a collaborative and communicative research environment.
Document research in internal discovery reports, manuscripts for external publication, and other formats as required
Present research at internal meetings and external scientific forums
Work with leadership to establish and maintain involvement in any external collaborations required to support research goals
Qualifications:
PhD in Immunology, Biological Sciences or Biomedical Engineering with at least 3-5 years of relevant industry experience (academic experience post-graduate also considered) OR a BS or MS in Biological Sciences, Biomedical/Immunology with 5-7 years of experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with approaches and technologies relevant to lipid nanoparticle (LNP) therapy is required.
Experience with in vitro cell culture (primary cells from human, NHP and murine origin) and associated technologies of assessment of cellular and protein function (multi-color flowcytometry, MSD/Luminex, quantitative PCR etc.) is required
Experience with assessment of LNP technology in murine models required, in vivo techniques (rodent handling, dosing of therapeutic molecules is advantageous)
Strong oral, written and fit-for-purpose communication skills
Excellent interpersonal & collaborative skills with an ability to operate as part of a team in highly interdependent environment. Adaptable and responsive, and committed to completing tasks in a timely fashion
This role may require up to 10% travel as needed.
