Job Title: Survey CAD Technician
Job Description
A multi-discipline, multi-location engineering firm is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to support a wide range of survey projects. The role offers a dynamic learning environment, allowing candidates to gain valuable project experience under the mentorship of a Professional Land Surveyor. This position involves providing strong office surveying skills with occasional field assistance, promoting a comprehensive understanding of survey projects and supporting the path toward professional licensure.
Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with Sr Land Surveyors and fellow Survey Technicians.
Conduct survey research and prepare boundary calculations from recorded documents for field crews to retrace property boundaries.
Analyze Title Reports to identify deeds, easements, and other recorded encumbrances, and assess their impact on specific parcels of land.
Draft final or near-final versions of Records of Survey, Topographic Maps, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Subdivision Plats, and Survey Exhibits for review and stamping by a Sr Land Surveyor.
Draft legal descriptions and associated survey exhibits.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in GPS, AutoCAD, and boundary survey software.
Experience with drafting, survey data entry, and topography.
Knowledge of land survey practices, including ALTA, PLS, and Carlson survey.
Ability to effectively collect data and work with survey crews.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of survey CAD experience.
Exposure to civil drafting software such as AutoCAD and Carlson.
Experience with survey equipment, including GPS, robotics, and total stations.
Ability to climb steep terrain and carry up to 80 lbs. for extended periods.
Effective time management skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks or projects.
Willingness to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Clean driving record with the ability to drive company or rental vehicles.
Preferred qualifications include an Associate of Applied Science degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Geomatics, LSIT license or interest in pursuing LSIT, CST, and/or FAA Part 107 drone pilot license, and familiarity with Carlson field equipment.
Work Environment
This role involves onsite work for projects with some travel required within the northwest. The work environment supports a field-to-finish approach, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle. The department is relatively new and offers opportunities for growth and professional development for those pursuing their license.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $39.00/hr.
