Description
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a wholesale distribution organization in Spartanburg, South Carolina on a Contract to Perm basis. This role is well suited for an accounting specialist who can support core financial operations, maintain accurate records, and contribute to timely reporting. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with general ledger activity, journal entries, and corporate tax processes while working effectively in a fast-paced business environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate monthly and periodic financial reporting.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure the integrity of accounting records.
• Assist with corporate tax activities, including gathering documentation and supporting tax return preparation.
• Manage sales tax-related tasks by reviewing transactions, maintaining compliance records, and helping resolve reporting issues.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes through account analysis and timely completion of assigned accounting tasks.
• Collaborate with internal teams to obtain financial information, clarify account activity, and improve reporting accuracy.
• Maintain organized accounting documentation and ensure records are complete, current, and audit-ready.
Requirements • Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Practical knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and support for corporate tax return processes.
• Experience handling sales tax reporting or compliance-related accounting activities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve account discrepancies.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial analysis and reporting.
