We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator with a background in railroad track maintenance (MOW) to support projects across multiple locations in the region. This is a travel-based position with regular regional travel required, supporting railroad track projects at various job sites.

This role is ideal for candidates who are comfortable working on the road during the week while still having more consistency than nationwide travel roles.

You will play a critical role in maintaining track integrity, supporting safe rail operations, and ensuring all work meets FRA regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities: Safely operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, and rail-specific machinery Perform railroad track maintenance including tie replacement, rail repair, surfacing, and general track work Follow all FRA regulations and company safety policies Identify track defects, geometry issues, and safety concerns Work closely with crew members to complete projects efficiently and safely in active rail environments

Required Qualifications: Minimum 2+ years of railroad track maintenance (MOW) experience Experience operating heavy equipment in a railroad or track environment Strong understanding of railroad safety standards and FRA compliance Ability to travel regionally as needed and work away from home during the week when required Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment Strong safety mindset and job-site awareness

Preferred: Experience with tampers, regulators, or other rail-specific equipment Experience working in Class I or short line railroad environments

Work Environment & Travel: Regional travel required (not a fully local position) Projects are located across the surrounding region and may require overnight stays Work is performed in outdoor rail environments in varying weather conditions Schedule may vary based on project needs and locations
