Aerotek Baking & Lab Testing Technician in SPARTANBURG, South Carolina

Hiring Baking & Lab Technician

1st shift: 7am-3:30pm

$18.15hr (Weekly Pay)

Position Summary

This role supports product quality andprocess consistency by preparing baked goods according to established formulas and procedures and by performing routine in-process and finished-product laboratory tests. The ideal candidate brings hands-on baking experience; laboratory testing methods will be trained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake products following approved formulas, work instructions, and production schedules.

  • Execute in-process checks and finished-product evaluations (e.g., weight, dimensions, moisture, texture, pH, Brix, water activity, or other site-specific tests) and accurately document results.

  • Collect, label, and handle samples using good manufacturing practices (GMPs), sanitation, and food safety requirements.

  • Set up, calibrate (as trained), clean, and maintain basic lab and bakery equipment (scales, thermometers, mixers, ovens, meters) and report malfunctions.

  • Identify and communicate nonconforming results; support troubleshooting and corrective actions with production and quality teams.

  • Maintain organized batch records, test logs, and traceability documentation; enter data into spreadsheets or quality systems as required.

  • Follow allergen controls, safety procedures, and cleaning schedules; maintain a clean, audit-ready work area.

  • Support continuous improvement activities such as test method standardization, work instruction updates, and housekeeping improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (additional technical or culinary training a plus).

  • 1+ years of hands-on baking or food production experience (commercial, retail, or test kitchen environments).

  • Ability to follow written formulas and procedures and consistently produce repeatable results.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SPARTANBURG, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $30.00/hr.
