Job Description

The Human Resources Manager oversees all administrative, regulatory, and operational human resources functions for the organization. This role ensures accurate documentation, compliance with employment laws, effective recruitment and onboarding, and the smooth administration of employee relations, benefits, compensation, and safety programs. The position offers the opportunity to lead the HR function, implement a new HRIS system, and shape benefits offerings across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and regularly audit confidential employee personnel records in HRIS and payroll systems.

  • Respond to authorized personnel inquiries and prepare HR-related reports and metrics, including turnover and absenteeism data.

  • Ensure benefit and personnel records are retained in full compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Administer employee terminations, ensuring all required documentation, notices, and system updates are completed accurately and on time.

  • Maintain and manage the performance review process and coach supervisors on effective evaluation completion and feedback delivery.

  • Support full-cycle recruitment, including posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and managing the applicant tracking process.

  • Partner with external recruiting resources when needed to support hiring needs.

  • Coordinate pre-employment screenings and background checks and ensure timely completion.

  • Prepare offer letters and non-selection correspondence in a professional and compliant manner.

  • Manage onboarding logistics and conduct new hire orientations, ensuring completion of all required documentation and a positive new hire experience.

  • Administer workplace safety programs and maintain all required safety records and documentation.

  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, incident reports, and regulatory logs, ensuring timely follow-up and documentation.

  • Coordinate safety committee meetings, document discussions, and track corrective actions to completion.

  • Serve as liaison with third-party benefits administrators and manage COBRA and disability processes.

  • Administer leaves of absence, including FMLA and other statutory leaves, and ensure accurate tracking and communication.

  • Track PTO usage and ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date job descriptions and ensure compliance with ADA requirements.

  • Conduct compensation benchmarking and market analyses to support competitive and compliant pay practices.

  • Support pay structure reviews and ensure compliance with compensation regulations and internal equity guidelines.

  • Administer benefits enrollment processes and reconcile monthly benefit invoices for accuracy and completeness.

  • Prepare and submit required government reports such as EEO, EEO-1, VETS, and Form 5500.

  • Serve as the primary contact for unemployment claims and appeals, providing timely and accurate responses.

  • Maintain and audit Affirmative Action Plans and related documentation to support compliance objectives.

  • Stay current on federal and state employment law requirements and communicate relevant updates to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Support audits related to retirement plans and HR compliance, providing documentation and follow-up as needed.

  • Coordinate and deliver mandatory and company-required training programs.

  • Maintain training records and track completion to ensure compliance with training requirements.

  • Update and administer the employee handbook and HR policies, ensuring they remain current and clearly communicated.

  • Respond to internal and external policy and compensation survey requests with accurate and timely information.

  • Conduct employee engagement or satisfaction surveys and support action planning based on results.

  • Lead the selection and implementation of a new HRIS system, including requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, and rollout support.

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and help select a competitive benefits plan for employees across the organization.

  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned by leadership to support organizational goals.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.

  • Experience supporting recruiting efforts, ideally in a manufacturing or operational environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience working with HR systems and HRIS tools.

  • Strong human resources generalist knowledge across employee relations, benefits, recruiting, and compliance.

  • Demonstrated HR compliance and regulatory expertise, including familiarity with federal and state employment laws.

  • Experience in full-cycle HR operations and administration, including onboarding, performance management, and terminations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to analyze HR data, interpret metrics, and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.

  • High ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive employee information.

  • Ability to adapt to change and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Collaborative mindset with a strong focus on employee relations and compliance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with benefits administration, including COBRA, disability, and leave management.

  • background in talent management and workforce planning to support organizational growth.

  • Experience with payroll processes or close collaboration with payroll functions.

  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation, safety programs, and incident reporting.

  • Ability to coordinate and deliver training programs and maintain training records.

  • Experience preparing government reports such as EEO, EEO-1, VETS, and Form 5500.

  • Experience maintaining Affirmative Action Plans and supporting related audits.

  • Skill in conducting compensation benchmarking and market analyses.

  • Comfort responding to policy and compensation survey requests.

  • Experience leading or contributing to HRIS selection and implementation projects.

  • Ability to conduct employee engagement or satisfaction surveys and support follow-up actions.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role working approximately 40 hours per week. The Human Resources Manager works in a professional office environment that supports a manufacturing or operational setting, collaborating closely with leaders and employees across the organization. The role uses HRIS and payroll systems, Microsoft Office, and various HR-related technologies and reporting tools. The environment offers the opportunity to build and lead the HR function, implement a new HRIS platform, and shape benefits programs, while working in a close-knit, family-oriented organizational culture.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Southwick, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Company benefits will be provided to a candidate once an offer is extended.

Workplace Type
