Aerotek Preparation Cook in Southaven, Mississippi

Job Title: Cook Job Description

Prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations, while adhering to established policies and procedures. Ensure quality food service is provided at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.

  • Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning, ensuring food is at the correct temperature, attractive, and tasty.

  • Taste all prepared food items.

  • Follow established ticket collection procedures during service and maintain records from the area worked during service periods.

  • Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and store or discard excess food following safe food-handling procedures.

  • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat, ensuring food and supply items are stored per standards.

  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.

  • Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required.

  • Assist in ordering and receiving all food and supplies as required.

  • Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor.

  • Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.

  • Perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in food preparation, line cooking, and foodservice.

  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Experience in a commercial kitchen.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with cold food preparation.

  • Previous experience in a hospital, hotel, casino, or other high-volume environment preferred.

  • Ability to interact with customers professionally.

  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

Work Environment

The position is located in a cafeteria environment and may involve customer interaction. The dress code includes black pants, a collared shirt, black slip-resistant shoes, and restrictions on fake lashes, nails, facial piercings, and non-natural hair colors. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 5 pm, with the possibility of working weekends and overtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southaven, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $15.50/hr.
