Actalent Mechanical Analysis Engineer in Southampton, Pennsylvania
Senior Mechanical Analysis Engineer
This role provides advanced mechanical engineering support with a focus on CAD detailing, moderate-level design tasks, and structural analysis. The engineer identifies and implements improvements to existing designs, supports cross-functional teams, and ensures that mechanical systems meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Responsibilities
Create detailed mechanical designs and drawings using CAD tools, including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor.
Perform mechanical and structural analyses to evaluate component and system performance under various loading and operating conditions.
Identify, propose, and implement improvements to existing mechanical designs to enhance performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or similar software to validate designs.
Interpret test data and correlate it with simulation results to refine models and improve design accuracy.
Collaborate closely with electrical engineering teams to support integrated system designs and validate overall system functionality.
Provide hands-on technical assistance to production technicians during assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical systems and components.
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mechanical issues identified during testing or production.
Document design changes, analysis results, and validation activities in a clear and organized manner.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and standards within the mechanical engineering function.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
7+ years of experience in mechanical analysis, ideally gained in a manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency in mechanical and structural analysis, including mechanics of materials and stress analysis.
Hands-on experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or similar software.
Proficiency with CAD tools, including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor, for creating detailed mechanical designs and drawings.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and how they influence design decisions and product performance.
Ability to interpret test data and correlate it with simulation results to validate and refine mechanical designs.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in a practical, hands-on environment.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering and production.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a manufacturing or production-focused environment.
Background in supporting cross-disciplinary engineering efforts, particularly with electrical and test teams.
Demonstrated ability to improve existing designs through iterative analysis, testing, and refinement.
Strong documentation skills for recording design decisions, analysis outcomes, and test correlations.
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team setting.
Work Environment
The role operates in a collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment that combines office-based design work with hands-on support in production and test areas. You will regularly use CAD software such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor, along with FEA tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, and NASTRAN to develop and validate mechanical designs. The position involves close interaction with electrical engineers, technicians, and other team members during assembly and testing activities. Work typically follows standard business hours, with occasional flexibility required to support critical builds or test schedules. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
