Town of Southampton Seasonal Part Time WSI Swim Instructor in SOUTHAMPTON, New York
The Town of Southampton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a WSI Swim Instructor for the 2026 season. This is a PT seasonal position that would run from June August; 20-25 hours per week. ## Salary negotiable based on experience. Required Qualifications * American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification. * CPR and First Aid Certification. * Age 21+ * 2-5 years experience as a swim instructor or lifeguard. * Possess leadership and management skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * The ability to perform physically strenuous duties and to lift up to 60 lbs. * Prioritize safety on the water.Preferred * 1-3 years WSI/Swim Instruction experience. * Lifeguard or WSI Certification. * Passion for and experience with working with children within a marine environment. * Previous experience as an instructor, coach or teacher preferred. * Strong verbal communication skills. * The ability to work closely with staff and the public. Responsibilities * Preparation of daily lesson plans for classroom and on-the-water instruction. * Instruct students on proper swimming techniques and water safety skills * Conduct all activities according to the policies, procedures and practices of The Town of Southampton Parks and Recreation Department. * Evaluate and adjust curriculum, lesson plans and activities as needed. * Visibly inspect swimming areas for cleanliness and possible maintenance issues. * Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staff. * Perform water rescues and administer first aid as needed. * Supervise, develop and evaluate a staff of 4 or more. * Prepare, maintain and properly clean all equipment. * Pre-season and end of season preparation and inventory.
