Manufacturing Operator – Burnisher / Sand Blaster

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Operator I (Burnisher / Sand Blaster) to perform abrasive blasting and peening operations in an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role involves operating burnish cabinets and blasting equipment to ensure parts meet required specifications and quality standards.
While prior journeyman-level experience is not required, candidates should have familiarity with mechanical equipment, grinding tools, and power tools used in surface finishing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate burnish cabinets, walk-in booths, or similar blasting equipment
Load and unload burnish cabinets with glass bead or other required media
Burnish parts coated with IVD aluminum according to required specifications
Perform abrasive blasting and peening operations
Mask parts as needed prior to blasting
Visually inspect parts before, during, and after processing to ensure proper finish
Follow standard industry practices and maintain safe work habits
Assist in additional production tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Previous burnishing or sandblasting experience preferred (not required)
Familiarity with mechanical equipment, grinding tools, and power tools
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English (FAA compliance)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Detail-oriented with strong hand-eye coordination
Positive attitude and willingness to assist where needed
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Frequent standing with hands inside blasting cabinet
Repetitive hand and wrist motion
Good dexterity (grip, grasp, clutch)
Frequent walking, reaching, kneeling, and crouching
Ability to lift parts weighing 20+ lbs regularly
Additional Requirements
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to meet production deadlines
Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, or weekends as needed (advanced notice provided)
Ability to learn and perform job-specific tasks
