Job Title: Production Assembly Technician

Job Description

This role supports refurbishing product. You will carefully disassemble, clean, inspect, reassemble, and test products, using hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and detailed process documentation to ensure high-quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Will receive faulty product back from customers.

  • Visually inspect for damage and accurately identify any obvious defects or issues.

  • Carefully unpack, removing all packaging, tape, and protective materials slowly and precisely to avoid causing additional damage.

  • Disassemble all components methodically, separating parts into appropriate groups for cleaning and further processing.

  • Gently clean all parts using brushes and other tools, following established procedures to avoid damaging sensitive components.

  • Count and verify all cleaned parts and organize them onto pallets for transfer to reassembly area.

  • Follow detailed operations and process sheets at all times to complete each step correctly and consistently.

  • Transfer completed product to the next station for inspection and quality checks.

  • Transfer to testing to perform electrical, hydro, and other leak tests as required.

  • Monitor test data on the computer in real time, interpreting results to confirm that all parameters fall within acceptable limits.

  • Identify and report any test anomalies or failures promptly and follow established procedures for nonconforming parts.

  • Once tested, insulate and wrap to prepare it for shipment to customers.

  • Rotate between different stations and tasks as needed, adapting to changing work locations and priorities throughout the shift.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and storage of tools, parts, and materials.

  • Use hand and power tools safely and correctly, following all safety guidelines and wearing required personal protective equipment.

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, gloves, and other PPE as required at each station.

  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow, share status updates, and resolve issues.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, or safety in the process.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience using hand and power tools for assembly, disassembly, or repair work.

  • Comfort and familiarity with turning a wrench, including experience from automotive or similar mechanical work.

  • Ability to adapt to different work locations and rotate between tasks and stations regularly.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision on delicate components.

  • Capability to follow detailed operations and process sheets accurately.

  • Ability to perform careful and controlled disassembly without damaging parts..

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of how assemblies fit and function.

  • Ability to stand, move, and perform manual tasks throughout a full shift in a production setting.

  • Commitment to safe work practices and consistent use of required PPE.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Forklift experience is a plus.

  • Overhead crane experience is a plus.

  • Experience in production, assembly, general labor, or automotive mechanics is beneficial.

  • Experience in automotive repair or as an automotive technician is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle precise and delicate work when required.

  • Strong observational skills for visual inspection and quality checks.

  • Comfort working with computer-based test systems and monitoring data displays.

Work Environment

The role is based across a main building and a back building within a well-lit, clean, and generally quiet production environment. Work takes place at multiple stations, including disassembly and cleaning areas, assembly stations, inspection points, and test stands. You will regularly use hand and power tools, brushes, hoses, and computer-based testing equipment, as well as material handling devices such as cranes, lifts, and rotisserie stands for manifolds. The position follows a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Required attire includes steel-toe footwear and safety glasses, with additional personal protective equipment such as gloves provided as needed at different stations. The facility emphasizes safe work practices and organized workspaces, with no medical or formal certification requirements for entry into the role.

This is a Contract position based out of South Windsor, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $22.50/hr.
