POSITION SUMMARY
The Laborer (Seasonal) works under the direction of the Water Division Manager; performs skilled and semi-skilled work pertaining to the operation, maintenance and construction of the City drinking water.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1.Perform inspections of water service lines to identify pipe materials.
• Accurately document material types, pipe diameters, and location coordinates using mobile devices and GIS software to support the city's service line inventory.
• Perform installation, cleaning, maintenance and repair on all components of City water system to deliver water to residents and businesses.
• Operates and maintains various types of heavy, light, and complex equipment that is used in the maintenance and construction of culinary water systems (backhoes, excavators, high pressure machines, hand tools, etc.).
• Responds to customer inquiries, requests and complaints regarding maintenance, leaks, and flooding involving the City's drinking water systems and other related matters.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license, or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of general construction techniques.
• Skill in operation of various hand and power tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
