Smurfit Westrock Maintenance Mechanic Assistant in South Plainfield, New Jersey
GENERAL PURPOSE: Perform general mechanical maintenance of facility and equipment in a timely and courteous manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
\u2022 Performs mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
\u2022 Troubleshoots and resolves mechanical problems and makes repairs as needed.
\u2022 Performs routing preventative maintenance on all machinery.
\u2022 Performs basic welding, brazing, and cutting to fabricate items such as guardrails, brackets, and hangers.
\u2022 Uses rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments accurately.
\u2022 Performs basic handiwork such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, water and air filters, and plumbing fixtures, cleaning drains, hanging pictures and bulletin boards, and maintaining proper forklift batteries.
\u2022 Prepares and operates machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drill presses, and mills to repair or fabricate machine parts and/or fixtures.
\u2022 Troubleshoots minor electric and electronic problems.
\u2022 Maintains accurate maintenance records.
\u2022 Supports various recycling programs such as light bulbs, batteries, and metals.
\u2022 Operates scissors and forklifts.
\u2022 Performs other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
\u2022 Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
\u2022 Must be able to properly use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
\u2022 Must have a working knowledge of AC/DC motors.
\u2022 Must be trained in basic electric and mechanical safety.
\u2022 Must have some basic computer experience.
\u2022 Must be knowledgeable in the safe use of hand and small power tools.
\u2022 Must pass color vision and color hue tests.
\u2022 Must be able to maintain good attendance.
\u2022 Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
\u2022 Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
The starting rate is $26.67 per hour, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
