Mountain West Montessori Academy Elementary Music Teacher in SOUTH JORDAN, Utah
A free public charter school in South Jordan, Utah, is now accepting applications for a Part-Time Elementary Music Teacher. We are seeking a joyful, skilled, and organized music teacher to join our vibrant community. We are looking for a musician-educator who is dedicated to helping students gain the necessary skills to understand, perform, and create music.
Position Overview
The Elementary Music Teacher will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction to students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. This is a part-time position (15 -- 20 hours per week), following the school calendar.
Responsibilities
· Plan and deliver weekly music instruction for K--6 students
· Teach foundational musical concepts including rhythm, solfedge, pitch, notation, movement, composition, and listening skills
· Incorporate singing, instruments, creative expression, and performance opportunities
· Prepare students for at least one school performance or concert per year
· Create a classroom environment that reflects Montessori principles: respect, independence, order, and beauty
· Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration
· Maintain music materials and equipment
· Communicate positively and professionally with families
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field
· Utah teaching license (or ability to obtain one) preferred
· Experience teaching elementary-aged students
· Strong classroom management skills
· Ability to differentiate instruction
· Experience with using Kodaly and/or Orff pedagogy strongly preferred
