Equipment Mechanic Field Service Technician

Job Description:

  1. Must have valid driver’s license (may require CDL with Hazmat).

  2. Maintains appropriate company records to document equipment maintenance, service and repair using electronic mobile devices (i.e., work orders completed on iPad).

  3. Working outside in all weather conditions.

  4. Work area and equipment housekeeping.

  5. Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects and repair all types of construction equipment. Proficient in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment. Includes different forms of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to; skid steers, loaders, dozers, graders, generators, water trucks, fuel trucks, lube trucks, forklifts, aerial work platforms, scissor lifts, heavy haul trailers, passenger vehicles, heavy-haul trucks, yard mules, excavators, backhoes, trenchers, pile drivers, ATVs, etc.

  6. Performs routine preventive maintenance on heavy construction equipment in a field environment (i.e., lubrication and replacement of brakes, belts, hoses, filters, fluids, and engine tune-up).

  7. Dismantles and reassembles systems on heavy construction equipment.

  8. Identify excessive damage or wear on equipment.

  9. Replaces defective engines and subassemblies.

  10. Tests and inspects overhauled equipment to ensure efficient operation.

  11. Knowledgeable and proficient in use of various diagnostic tools; may include but not limited to; CANBUS, CAT ET, CUMMINS INSITE, GENIE & JLG systems.

  12. Knowledge of air brake systems and vehicle maintenance procedures.

  13. Experience in automotive repair and maintenance.

  14. Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients or customers.

  15. Familiarity with power tools and their safe operation.

  16. Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and diagrams.

  17. Skilled in assembling and disassembling equipment as required.

  18. Knowledge of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and specifications.

  19. Capable of performing digging tasks using appropriate equipment.

  20. Pushes and/or pulls toolboxes to position them while working on equipment.

  21. Loads, transports, unloads materials, tools, equipment, and suppliers.

  22. Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

  23. Performs maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.

  24. Adheres to all safety procedures.

  25. Ability to travel to various project sites.

  26. Typically requires 48 months of industrial construction experience.
