All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in Section A.3 & A.4. This job order is for qualified workers to\ perform duties including pruning, thinning, and harvesting in an apple orchard, as well as general orchard work. Workers must have the knowledge and ability to prune, thin, and train fruit trees. The work is physically\ demanding and requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing ladders. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and repeatedly climb a 20-foot ladder while carrying\ a picking bucket harnessed over their shoulders. Employees are expected to report to work wearing suitable clothing and be willing to work in varying weather conditions, ranging from as low as 30F to as high as 90F,\ including damp mornings. During harvest, workers may also be asked to drive trucks to transport apple bins from outlying orchards. In addition, workers may be assigned duties in the packing house, including washing,\ sorting, grading, and packing apples. Packing housework may involve standing for extended periods, working on sorting lines, handling produce carefully to avoid bruising, and preparing apples for storage or shipment. When\ harvesting apples, workers must maintain a productivity rate of at least 60 1-1/8-bushel boxes per 7 hours worked, with no more than 5% bruising for the fresh market. Workers may be asked to operate trucks or other multipurpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including\ on public roads to reach farmer\'s fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Workers that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license;\ no worker will be rejected for not having a driver\'s license. Workers who do drive will still perform the same field work and other duties as non-driving workers; driving is not a primary duty. Workers may use hand tools,\ including but not limited to shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, hand saws, and knives. The employer will provide, at no cost, all tools and equipment required to perform assigned duties. The employer will\ provide one day of training and allow up to two additional days for workers to demonstrate satisfactory performance of the required tasks. Workers may require to work 8-hour shifts within the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.,\ Monday through Friday plus a 5-hour shift within the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. This schedule totals 45 hours per week. The 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. range accounts for varying orchard conditions (e.g.,\ weather or crop readiness) to ensure that workers are able to complete the required weekly hours. Workers will not be scheduled to work a full 12-hour shift. Workers will be provided with at least a 30-minute lunch break\ which is staggered between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as determined by both the workers and management. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and must return to work after the 30-minute break. The daily and\ weekly work schedules may vary depending on orchard conditions, including weather, sunlight, temperature, and crop readiness. The employer will notify workers of any changes to the schedule. Workers must be able to\ operate agricultural equipment safely and must be able to understand and follow instructions in simple English.
