All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in Section A.3 & A.4. Workers are needed to assist with\ planting, cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting diversified ground crops and orchard crops. Field duties include weeding, thinning, hoeing, planting, transplanting, and other tasks related to crop production. Workers will plant\ and transplant crops in both fields and greenhouses, care for seedlings, and harvest greenhouse crops. Workers will assist with post-harvest handling in storage facilities, including washing, sorting, culling, and preparing\ produce for storage and distribution. Workers must have knowledge of soil tillage and be able to apply fertilizers and pesticides, as well as operate and perform minor repairs on farm machinery and agricultural equipment.\ Workers must also have the knowledge and ability to prune, thin, and train apple trees. The assigned duties are physically demanding and require prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing\ ladders. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Workers must be able to safely operate agricultural equipment and may use hand tools including, but not limited to, shovels, trowels, hoes,\ tampers, pruning hooks, shears, hand saws, knives, irrigation pumps, and chainsaws. Workers will help load and unload trucks and may assist in clearing brushes in or around fields to maintain crop areas. Workers must be\ able to repeatedly handle and climb a 20-foot ladder while carrying an apple picking bucket harnessed over their shoulders. During harvest, workers may drive trucks on public roads between orchard blocks to move apple\ bins from outlying orchards. Workers may also operate tractors, pick up brushes from orchard floors, and assist with repairing damaged bins. Apple harvest productivity must average at least 60 1-1/8 bushel boxes per 7\ hours worked, with no more than 5% bruising for fresh market apples. Workers may be asked to operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties;\ haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer\'s fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or\ laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Workers that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver\'s license. Workers who do drive will still perform\ the same field work and other duties as non-driving workers; driving is not a primary duty. Workers should report for work with suitable clothing and must be willing to work in varying weather conditions, including cold spring\ and fall temperatures and hot, humid summer conditions. . Workers may be required to work 9-hour shifts within the hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm from Monday through Saturday. Employees may offer to work on Sunday,\ subject to mutual agreement between the employer and the employee. This schedule totals 54 hours per week. The 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. range accounts for varying orchard conditions (e.g., weather or crop readiness) to\ ensure that workers are able to complete the required weekly hours. Workers will not be scheduled to work a full 12-hour shift. Workers will be provided with at least a 30-minute lunch break, staggered between 11:00 a.m. to\ 1:00 p.m., as determined by both the workers and management. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and must return to work after the 30-minute break. In addition, workers will receive a 15-minute break in the\ morn ng and a 15-minute break in the afternoon, as agreed upon by the worker and management.
