HORTON FARM LLC Farm Workers and Laborers in South Glastonbury, Connecticut

3 Temporary Seasonal Job Openings between 4/16/2026 - 12/12/2026

Manually plant, cultivate, & harvest vegetables, fruits, nuts, and field crops, including tobacco. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs, & carry 40-50lbs while climbing 10 ladders, as well as work outside in extreme conditions. Duties may include tilling the soil & applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; applying pesticides; cleaning, packing, & loading harvested products. Must be gentile with produce to keep from bruising & puncturing. May construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities. The employee must be capable of working on and around heavy machinery. Must be able to follow & recall detailed directions and safety procedures at all times. Workers must not hinder another worker's productivity. The use of personal cell phones or other personal electronic devices during working hours is strictly prohibited, except for work-related calls and/or emergencies. Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination. The position requires 2 months of verifiable farm work experience on a diversified crop farm/nursery. Work may include mechanized fieldwork using power equipment. By way of example & not limitation, power equipment may include tractors, planters, sprayers, cultivators, mowers, lift trucks & other equipment considered normal to the stated operations. Workers will be expected to operate agricultural equipment with or without direction. Workers should be able to work on their feet and in bent positions for extended periods of time. Allergies to grasses, ragweed, goldenrod, etc. may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Workers should be physically able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations. Workers shall be exposed to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day while working. Temperatures may range from I0F to +100F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations & to perform work that is incidental to farming crops listed in the application. Any other duties will be consistent with that of Farm Worker, Diversified Crops, DOT code 407.687-010 (SOC {ONET/OES} code 45-2092.02). This is a very demanding & competitive business in which quality specifications must be rigorously adhered to. Sloppy work cannot and will not be tolerated. Full Growing Season Commitment: Job offered requires the worker to be available for work seven hours per day Monday through Friday and five (5) hours on Saturday every day that work is available & for the full anticipated period of employment, even though work may slow for a period of time during the course of the season. Workers must agree to be available for work as described above and for the period of time as described above. Work available is defined as, no work on the worker's Sabbath or Federal holidays, but work is required seven (7) hours per day Monday - Friday & five (5) hours on Saturday. The worker understands that if he/she abandons his/her employment or is terminated for cause prior to the end of the anticipated period of employment, the worker will forfeit the guarantee and reimbursement of certain transportation costs. Excessive absence and/or tardiness will not be tolerated and may result in termination.
