Actalent Industrial Engineer in South Chesterfield, Virginia

Job Title: Industrial EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Industrial Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to our manufacturing processes. This role involves mapping packing processes, analyzing material flows, and working closely with various departments to optimize our operations. As an Industrial Engineer, you will play a key role in introducing process changes, supporting new product introductions, and collaborating on continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in mapping packing processes and material flows, including all related data, inputs/outputs, and system dependencies.

  • Work closely with NPI technicians to maintain and input process data such as routings, rates, and work descriptions.

  • Create process flow diagrams and capture data necessary for material flow, asset utilization, and mapping.

  • Contribute to industrial engineering topics related to process changes, new products, and new technologies.

  • Support continuous improvement projects and collaborate with the Process Engineering team.

  • Create procedures and visual aids to improve document standards and structure.

  • Engage with suppliers and contractors for industrial engineering support.

  • Contribute to project direction with minimal oversight and collaborate with the R&D department for new processes.

Essential Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Industrial Engineer or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven Lean Manufacturing knowledge and execution.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to detect root causes.

  • ISO9001 knowledge.

  • Experience optimizing workspace layouts for better standards, ergonomics, and time balancing.

  • Ability to map process flows and value stream maps, displaying data in digital formats such as Visio and Excel.

  • Experience in developing production process standards and routings.

  • Knowledge of theory of constraints.

  • Mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, automation, and electrical knowledge applied to machine design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering background.

  • Experience in new product development and design.

  • Familiarity with packaging manufacturing, engineering, and design.

Work Environment

This position is based in a current plant focused on packing with approximately 700 employees. The company plans to expand with a new facility in 2027 that will include all stages of manufacturing. The environment offers a great opportunity to work within a growing team supported by significant financial backing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of South Chesterfield, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
