This position is the initial point of contact for all potential admissions to the Inpatient Psychiatric Units at UVMMC, between Monday at 8:00AM and Friday at 4:30PM, or as determined by the needs of the organization.

This position is responsible to monitor and manage the list of patients awaiting placement at UVMMC in the ED. The Coordinator assesses all referred patients for medication compliance, behavioral issues and treatment needs, medical complexity, and overall appropriateness for UVMMC psychiatry units

The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Consulting with referring providers to determine appropriate level of care needs, and availability of treatment on the Units, in concert with the Attending Psychiatrist, Nurse Manager or designees.

  • Providing oversight to clinical, administrative, and insurance elements of the admissions process.

  • Coordinating with case managers of other medical services where patients who are identified as needing/receiving psychiatric care are located within the hospital.

  • Monitoring psychiatric patients awaiting placement, who have been referred by the Psychiatric Consult Service, or are located in the Emergency Department to facilitate placement where appropriate.

Education:

  • Required Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed psychologist, or related field, licensed in VT.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years (5 preferred) of experience working in a mental health treatment setting providing direct care and behavioral health interventions.

  • Preferred experience in admissions.
