Leidy's is looking to hire a Utility Worker in an entry-level role responsible for supporting daily production and sanitation
activities across the meat processing facility. This role performs a variety of tasks-including general labor, cleaning, product handling, and assisting production teams-to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient operation. The Utility employee helps maintain product integrity, follows all food safety and workplace safety requirements, and supports continuous workflow throughout the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Support
Assist with basic production tasks including loading, packing, sorting, and staging meat products.
Supply production lines with materials such as boxes, labels, ingredients, or packaging supplies.
Move raw materials and finished goods using carts, totes, or pallet jacks (manual or electric, if trained).
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure product quality and consistency.
Sanitation & Cleaning
Clean work areas, equipment, tools, and floors throughout the shift to maintain sanitary
conditions.
Dispose of waste, inedible material, and packaging according to company and USDA guidelines.
Assist sanitation team during pre-op, mid-shift, or end-of-day cleanup as required.
Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and PPE.
Food Safety & Compliance
Follow all company food safety policies, including GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), hygiene guidelines, and allergen control.
Report any product quality or food safety concerns to leadership immediately.
Maintain compliance with USDA regulations and facility HACCP programs.
Participate in required training sessions related to food safety, workplace safety, and
equipment operation.
General Labor Tasks
Perform basic tasks such as trimming, weighing, labeling, or assembling product components.
Palletize, wrap, and prepare finished goods for storage or shipment.
Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation.
Support any department in the facility as assigned (fabrication, grinding, packaging, shipping, sanitation, etc.).
Qualifications:
Ability to work in cold, damp, and fast-paced production environments.
Ability to lift 30-50 lbs repeatedly and stand for long periods.
Willingness to follow safety rules, food safety requirements, and company policies.
Strong work ethic and reliability; must maintain good attendance.
Ability to work as part of a team with diverse coworkers.
