Job Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert for molding and cable over‑molding processes within TE Connectivity’s Manufacturing Engineering organization. This role ensures that all molding, over‑molding, extrusion, and related manufacturing processes operate at optimal efficiency, quality, and output levels. The engineer will lead process development, tooling improvements, automation initiatives, and manufacturability strategies that support both existing production and New Product Introductions (NPI).
This position is instrumental in enabling TE plants to meet TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) standards, implement Best Demonstrated Practices (BDPs), support Centers of Excellence (COE), and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, OEE, cost, and scrap reduction. The engineer will partner closely with Operations, Tooling, Product Development, and Project Management teams to ensure robust processes, cost-effective tooling, and seamless production ramp-ups.
Essencial duties and responsibilities:
-Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for molding and cable over‑molding processes.
-Develop, optimize, and validate cable over‑molding manufacturing parameters and tooling.Participate in daily operations meetings to identify and resolve process issues rapidly.
*Ensure manufacturing processes operate at designed efficiency levels, delivering expected quality and output.
*Drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, OEE, scrap, and cost through the application of TEOA tools and methodologies.
-Work closely with Project Managers and launch teams during the introduction and industrialization of new products.
-Develop and mentor engineering and technical teams to build internal expertise in molding and related processes.
-Capture cost savings, perform ROI analysis, and document results using TE’s TEBIT system, supporting annual cost‑saving targets.
-Document, standardize, and deliver training on molding best practices for both existing production and NPIs.Support the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing tools and equipment.
-Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and TE Connectivity policies.
-Develop and execute cost‑improvement roadmaps for molding, extrusion, and related processing technologies.
-Stay current on new molding and automation technologies and evaluate their applicability to internal processes.
-Act as the primary regional expert and point of contact for molding‑related issues.
Job Requirements
B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in molding, extrusion, cable processes, or related manufacturing fields.
Deep knowledge of advanced plastic molding technologies , tooling, and process systems.
Experience in cable extrusion, taping processes , and/or high‑performance engineered cable products.
Experience with High-Speed Cables is a strong plus.
Experience in the wire harness industry acceptable only for RF or High‑Speed product backgrounds.
Proven experience with automation , manufacturing controls, and process systems integration.Leadership experience managing teams of at least 7 people .
Strong proficiency in statistical and analytical problem‑solving tools (DOE, SPC, MSA, capability studies).
Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and DFM/DFA practices.
Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.Proficiency in 3D CAD platforms: CREO, SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk . Six Sigma Green Belt certification or training preferred.
Full proficiency in the English language (written and spoken)
