The IT Team Lead, SAP BASIS position is responsible for the overall health, performance, security, and continuous availability of our SAP systems. Leading a team of IT professionals, the role ensures operational excellence while delivering technology solutions and support. Serves as the strategic liaison between IT and stakeholder groups to ensure technology initiatives align with business objectives and deliver measurable value. Maintains detailed technology and integration architecture at an enterprise and project level in collaboration with Enterprise Architects, IT operations teams, and subject matter experts from Swagelok IT and business units for assigned solutions. The role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on contribution to both project execution and daily operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Build and maintain SAP system infrastructure.
o Hands-on administration of all enterprise SAP applications, including installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and support in a hybrid environment.
o Manage and maintain SAP high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
o Proactively monitor the SAP landscape to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact the business.
o Advocate and drive adoption of best practices and fit-for-purpose solutions across the enterprise.
o Develop, maintain, and update documentation for SAP BASIS policies and procedures.
o Perform Root Cause Analysis and communicate resolution recommendations.
o Implement operating systems and application patches and service releases as required.
o Implement 3rd party and custom developed applications.
Lead and mentor a team. Set clear goals, delegate responsibilities effectively, track performance, and develop team capabilities to ensure consistent delivery of IT services.
Ensure service responsiveness and reliability. Monitor and manage incoming service requests, incidents, and change orders, driving timely resolution and a high level of customer satisfaction.
Foster stakeholder relationships. Build trusted partnerships with stakeholders and external service providers advocating for success by ensuring IT solutions deliver value and support evolving business needs.
Co-develop technology roadmaps. Partner with business and IT leaders to define, prioritize, and maintain shared technology roadmaps that enable innovation and operational efficiency.
Oversee system implementations. Manage end-to-end execution of digital solutions and platform rollouts, ensuring alignment with business objectives, adherence to timelines and budgets, and minimal disruption to plant operations.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement. Identify gaps and opportunities across processes, tools, and systems to proactively introduce improvements that enhance service quality and business impact.
Foster stakeholder relationships . Build trusted partnerships with IT and functional leaders, advocating for their success by ensuring IT solutions deliver value and support evolving business needs.
Educate and develop associates to achieve individual and organizational goals . Provide clear direction, regular coaching, and performance feedback. Lead by example with integrity, address concerns constructively, and create growth opportunities while ensuring alignment with company policies and performance standards.
Responsible for leading associates through Swagelok’s Performance Management system , as a leader, you are expected to know, enforce, and appropriately escalate all Swagelok associate policies.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience:
o 10 years of relevant experience to include 7+ years of hands-on experience in SAP BASIS administration, including exposure to multiple SAP applications and support activities such as ECC, S/4HANA, BTP, security, desktop integration, data recovery, and system backup
o Proven experience with the administration and integration of SAP systems across a hybrid landscape, specifically managing both on-premise installations (e.g., ECC, S/4HANA) and cloud-hosted environments (e.g., Azure, SAP BTP services)
o 2+ year supervisory responsibilities preferred
Skills:
o Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into business context
o Strong team leadership, change management, and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
o Skilled at stakeholder and relationship management, building trust and collaboration across business, operations, and IT teams
o Proficient in delivering complex technology projects and executing IT service operations
Hours: Ability to work off-hours to support business needs and initiatives
Working conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
Working conditions associated with normal office environment.
Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.).
Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings.
Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
