Summary: To provide assistance to the teacher in a variety of instructional activities and to relieve teacher of routine clerical tasks.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge (position requirements at entry)
Ability to work well with students, staff and parents.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to operate general office machines
Ability to organize and prioritize
Skills (position requirements at entry)
Using a computer and related software including related office equipment.
Manage multiple assignments simultaneously
Reviewing and analyzing procedures and reports
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with assigned staff, coworkers, supervisors, parent, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Training and Experience (position requirements at entry)
Associates degree or Higher; or
60 plus credit hours from accredited institution of higher education; or
Pass an ADE approved assessment.
Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry)
Current Arizona Drivers License
Fingerprint Clearance Card
Essential Functions:
Familiar with behavior intervention techniques.
Working knowledge of purpose of IEPs.
Establish and maintain a good rapport with students, parents, employees.
Work in close proximity with assigned teachers and students
Assist students, individually or in groups, to reinforce skills and/or oversee learning activities
Provides tutorial assistance to individual students or small groups of students as requested by the teacher
Assist with classroom computer instruction
Participate as a stakeholder in school improvement initiatives
Develop classroom materials (i.e. instructional activities, bulletin boards, reference materials, etc.) to provide assistance to teacher in support of lesson plans
Maintain instructional equipment to ensure the availability of items when required
Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (i.e. student records, schedules, lesson plans, progress reports, etc.) to support the teacher and/or administrator in providing records and/or materials
Regular and on-time attendance required
Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

Physical Requirements:
Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion is not normally required to perform all aspects of the job.
Work involves sitting for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, and holding and grasping objects.
Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties.
Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions.
