Summary:

The classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge of classroom assessment.

Knowledge of learning processes.

Knowledge of classroom management techniques.

Knowledge of and sensitivity to ethnic, cultural and socio-economic influences on the student.

Knowledge of individual and group characteristics.

An awareness of new and changing developments in the education profession.

Computer literacy.

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry)

A Bachelor\'s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry)

Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate.

Highly Qualified in appropriate area.

Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Essential Functions:

Communicates learning goals to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.

Prepare and deliver instruction appropriate to the student population including curriculum that addresses learning styles, abilities, interests, behavior problems and student s with special needs.

Create lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards.

Use available technology to enhance learning.

Use district and state assessment data to improve instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and intervention programs.

Facilitate instruction based on current research-based best practices.

Effectively implement Individual Education Plans.

Establish classroom routines to promote a positive environment conducive to effective instruction.

Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of low performing students. Document and resolve issues related to student behavior problems and attendance.

Reflect on teaching and strive to improve professional competence.

Assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities.

Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Maintain accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.

Participate in intervention process at sites.

Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings and parent conferences.

Participate in school and District initiatives.

Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments.

Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the District or school site

Marginal Functions:

Coordinate school in-services, as needed, to parents and peers.

Supervise students, classroom employees, and volunteers

Physical Requirements:

Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion is not normally required to perform all aspects of the job.

Work involves sitting for extended periods o time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, and holding and grasping objects.

Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties.

Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions.

Travel between work locations may be required.
