Hybrid 2 weeks per month onsite in either Smithfield, RI or Jersey City, NJ

Our client seeks a principal-level software engineer focused on Oracle SQL and PL/SQL to build cloud-enabled, distributed data solutions. The role will design and implement scalable database services, data APIs, and batch processes while advancing practices in ATDD and CI/CD. You will lead design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate across agile teams to deliver performant, maintainable, and testable solutions. Your work will enable investment technology capabilities that support global research, trading, and operations.

Rate: $60.00 to $65.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and implementation of software solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements aligned to program strategy.

  • Drive application design efforts and participate in design and code reviews.

  • Develop and maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including data analysis, modeling, data APIs, and performance tuning.

  • Build and support batch jobs using ETL/Informatica and Autosys.

  • Engage in product quality planning, test case development, and regression testing with a focus on automation.

  • Contribute to and champion engineering practices in ATDD and CI/CD.

  • Collaborate with global developers to promote standard methodologies for software engineering.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to empower team members.

Experience Requirements:

  • Expertise writing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL with strong data analysis, data modeling, API design, and performance tuning experience.

  • Experience building and maintaining batch processes using ETL/Informatica and Autosys.

  • Understanding of fundamental design principles for scalable applications.

  • Experience practicing ATDD and writing automated tests for database code.

  • Experience with cloud data technologies such as Snowflake and S3 (preferred).

  • Interest and practice in writing clean, testable, readable, maintainable, and performant code.

  • Knowledge of mid-tier technologies such as Java, messaging, and web containers, including data interaction patterns.

  • Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD tools and practices.

  • Ability to translate storyboards and use cases into applications with strong critical thinking and problem solving.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
