The organization seeks a Senior IT Data Analyst to partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to translate business drivers into user stories and data-centric solutions. The role focuses on end-to-end data and system requirements, lineage, and quality to support analytics, BI, and ML initiatives. The analyst will drive backlog management, acceptance testing, and delivery planning in an agile environment. Financial services knowledge and strong SQL, data modeling, and BI experience will support impactful outcomes.

Rate: $45.00 to $55.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyze business and functional requirements and confirm via artifacts such as BRDs, process flows, data flow diagrams, and use cases.
Translate business goals into end-to-end system and data requirements, including field-level definitions, data rules, and non-functional requirements.
Partner with BI, Data, and ML engineers to define and maintain detailed source-to-target mappings, interface contracts, and data lineage across systems and reports.
Contribute to documentation and maintenance of end-to-end data and process lineage across databases, transformations, BI assets, ML pipelines, and workflows and coordinate impact analysis for upstream changes.
Perform cost-benefit analyses to ensure technology investments align strategically and deliver business value.
Convert business requirements into actionable delivery plans with milestones and timelines for system and data work.
Identify and manage risks and dependencies for planned work.
Implement delivery plans through quarterly planning and backlog management.
Manage product backlogs using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
Translate complex business and data requirements into user stories with defined business value, acceptance criteria, and test conditions.
Lead team refinement sessions to ensure stories are clear and ready for sprint planning.
Define story acceptance tests with the team using ATDD principles during refinement.
Own user story sign-off, ensuring delivery meets requirements and has passed automated and manual tests.
Proactively identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
Participate in end-to-end test activities to ensure functionality aligns with requirements.
Experience Requirements:
Five years as an IT Data Analyst.
Financial services industry knowledge; investment or wealth management domain knowledge is a plus.
Hands-on experience with relational databases and SQL for analysis, profiling, and data validation.
Understanding of data modeling concepts such as star and snowflake schemas, dimensions, and facts for BI and reporting.
Experience defining or supporting BI and reporting solutions such as Power BI or Tableau, including KPIs, drill-downs, and filters.
Experience working with or around ML and LLM solutions or demonstrated aptitude to learn, including defining data requirements, success criteria, and basic monitoring needs in partnership with ML Engineers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to reason about complex systems and data flows.
Ability to understand application technology and software architecture.
Experience with analysis and testing tools including SQL Developer, Insomnia, Kafka Offset Explorer, Datadog, Jira, and Confluence.
Willingness to review and understand code for analysis and support.
Familiarity with modern AI tools applied to analysis, documentation, testing, or diagnostics.
Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum and related events and artifacts.
Experience working effectively in global, distributed teams.
Proven ability to align across business, BI, ML, Data Ops, and Architecture teams on standards, data contracts, SLAs, and operating mechanisms.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
